Change is inevitable within every aspect of life, whether it be internal, external or within our surroundings, there is constant regeneration wherever we are and no matter what we do.
In recovery change must take place in order for us to move on and progress. This can be both positive and negative to an individual, but regardless of the outcome, learning to let go, discover and adapt to new things can be terrifying, and that is 100% normal.
For myself, I have began to particularly notice how some things just aren’t meant to fit anymore, or maybe they fit perfectly! Both of which I find scary as I learn to love and accept my body. I used to buy clothes X sizes too big and now I’m entering a new path within my recovery where these clothes actually fit me or are even too small, and you know what? That is perfectly ok! You simply cannot be defined by a simple piece of material no matter what size it is. So what if your belly is over your jeans, or your cleavage is showing, or your top hugs your curves? It’s part of your anatomy and clothes are supposed to be comfortable!
Allow yourself to blossom, because flower’s change with seasons and continue to grow back after being stepped on. Spread your roots and rediscover life and love for yourself and those around you.
Recovery is a time to embrace change, but it can also be a time to reflect on the changes that had to take place for you to become the person you are today. Do not be discouraged by change, for without it you would not be the person you are today.
Recovery looks different on everyone and in order to recover, you must accept the changes and challenges along the way.
Change saved me, and it will continue to save you also.
